What Is The Phantom Of The Opera About?
Lurking deep beneath the lavish Paris Opera House lives the Phantom. Ashamed of his physical deformities and an object of intense fear among the public, he lives in the shadows. The Phantom has one companion, Christiane Daae, his protégée and the object of his obsessive love.
The Phantom of the Opera is gloriously grand in style. The show's immensity of its plot, its scenery and, of course, its music, has drawn over 100 million people worldwide to see it. Took the missus to watch the phantom of the opera and it was such an amazing experience I have seen the play before but it was a lovely evening I had throughly enjoyed it
What is there left to say about this fantastic production. Well done everyone. One or two safety issues to consider. Descent to front of The Grand Balcony very very steep with deep steps and no handrails. Once we were safely seated a man fell down the last 3 steps . No one came to ask if he was OK even though lots of people were pretty shocked. A young boy aged about 7 sat next to me with his mother was very frightened and ran off up the steps in the dark . Is this show suitable for children who might be disturbed by seeing scary things on stage ?
Amazing! Spellbinding! The geniuses behind the production and those that bring it alive - we are so lucky. A masterpiece by all accounts.
My wife and I absolutely loved the show. We have listened to the music for years but have never been fortunate enough to see the live show (until now). It was a very moving performance. Thank you to all involved.
Absolutely fantastic. A must see. Been twice and will go again
I last show this show about 25 years ago in Manchester and just needed to see it again. Dragged my husband along this time and he enjoyed it too.I had booked balcony seats which were too cramped for my 6 foot 2 inch husband to be comfortable so he watched the second half standing up with the ushers.
The opera is amazing good. But the box office sold me worry tickets. I ordered the stairs ticket and they sold me the Royal circle ticket. It's a shame on this company.
Great performance, wonderful orchestra/music, but the ALD technology was not very good...
Excellent performance by everyone
Absolutely awestruck. Performers outstanding, orchestra top rate, scenery and costumes not of this world. I would come back over and over again because you can not take it all in at once.🐒
My son and I have been wanting to see this show on stage in London for years and finally went last night as a treat for my sons 9th bday. It did not disappoint, in fact it exceeded our expectations! We laughed, we cried, we gasped and we fell in love! The music is phenomenal and the actors playing each of the roles were fabulous! Could not recommend this highly enough. A must see!
What an amazing performance. This is my 5th visit to the show and each time I see something I hadn't noticed before. The cast were pure genius, the scenery is truly wonderful and the whole show was brilliant 😃
It was niece. I like when Phantom took Christe on a boat. Nice sinig. I recommend my friend's.
Amazing costumes and sets
Fantastic, breath taking this was a treat for my husband 40th birthday. We loved the cast and the staging was amazing
It is a musical that I have always wanted to see and did not disappoint my expectations. The amazing actors, the exciting music and the wonderful staging. One of my dreams fulfilled. Thank you very much for everything, it was all unforgettable.
The Male Lead (The Phantom) has an excellent voice that sent me into chills multiple time, dare I say it, he may even be better than the original cast phantom, Michael Crawford. I’ve seen it many times before, and more than once with this particular cast, and they never put anything but 100% into their performances.
Loved every second of it! A great evening out :)
Our visit was a surprise for our 11 year old granddaughter who has watched and sang 'Phantom' songs since she was three !! For her (2nd theatre trip ever) it was just "Amazing" in her words. To be more accurate - from the greeting at the door, the service in the bar - the first moment could not have been better. The staff were superb. And then their was the actual show. There are not enough words in her 11 yr old vocabulary to describe her joy, amazement, awy and enjoyment of this, her favourite musical. As grandparents we were completely overjoyed at her experience. And as for ourselves - a memorable night with a cast and orchestra that deserved the standing ovation at the end. This for all of us all a 10 star experience. I cannot recommend this show Highly Enough. Beyond the usual superlatives. (ps we were so elated that we walked the mile back to our hotel without noticing it)
Great show that worths seeing it. Great costumes, scenes and performances
What a show! From start to finish the performance of all the actors was outstanding and the music fantastic. A show never to be forgotten.
I saw this 30 yrs ago with the original cast so it would be hard to better this but having paid a lot more for supposedly better seats we were disappointed with view especially for the smaller children even with booster seats- it makes it very hard to justify these prices. The sound system was over amplified for many of the songs such that it was painful to the ears when the sopranos were up high and not loud enough to hear the words clearly when not singing.
Third time we have seen Phantom , and this was by far the best performance . Mesmerizing .
As I turned 18 recently, my only wish was to see phantom of the Opera in London. This has been my favourite interest for the past 3 years and going to see it live, was a dream come true. The show was So much more than I expected. It was such an indescribable experience that even afterwards fills me with so much joy. I love it with every bit of my heart. I, thank the cast, the musicians and every other person involved with the preparation of this amazing show. Thank you for the best birthday ever.
My wife and I were visiting London from Australia and one of our goals during our visit was to see 'Phantom', and we weren't disappointed. The show was sensational, the atmosphere, the unbelieveably talented cast, the theatre props - we thoroughly enjoyed the show, well worth the admission cost (albeit the Australian to GBP exchange rate isn't that good)!
Excellent - amazing voices
Wow. Everything was incredible. A must see
It was a night well spent. Beautiful choreography, singing and set!
I was completely blown away. This was the most wonderful night of ‘theatre’ I have experienced in many years. The sets, that music and wonderful performances from all the leads- who have there everything on that stage. Top prize goes though to Phantom - who’s performance gave me goosebumps and revulsion and extreme compassion. What a voice
The play was amazing. Everything about it made it an amazing experience. The singing was phenomenal along with the stage set ups they did. Recommend this to anyone.
Great show, nice decorationals and stunning performance.
My 3rd visit and still enjoyed it! Amazing costumes and performances. A must see!!
Most amazing experience in London
Unless you are in prime seats in the centre then you're visibility will be hindered. This theatre has not been built with this in mind. The production itself was great! Unfortunately you do not feel submerged into the story because of the broken visibility.
Fantastic show highly recommended 👍🏻
Howar is just Amazing as the Phantom! Great performances from the other excellent artists (e.g. Mathieson) also. Highly recommended!
The whole production was jaw dropping
I worked at Sport’s Cafe in 1999, for a year and a half. In that entire time, I never took the opportunity to go watch a show. I could kick my own Backside. To think that there was something so entertaining right next door, and I never took advantage of it.... I would recommend anybody that spends some time in London, to go and watch the show. The voices were fabulous, and the show was First Class. My wife and I were on the edge of our our seats throughout. When next I come to London, I will definitely watch it again. Well done. And long may it continue.
The play was amazing, definitely recommend
Fantastic show and would thoroughly recommend. Shame that some in audience seem to be uninterested and spend time on their phones or moving around through what seems to be boredom. Better monitoring would help so as not to spoil the enjoyment of others
Lovely Theater. Fantastic music. All singing was pitch perfect.Very dramatic special effects. Fabulous acting. Would recommend this to anyone. Would see it again. I went with my husband and 15 year old son.
Do be careful when u choose ur seat.Dont make decision before u have already known the structure in the theatre. The performance is GREAT but there is a column right in front of me which divided my view into two parts. So I have to enjoy a narrow view.Anyway, this review is for the performance itself. As for this,I can say it is REALLY great both in the cast and the special effect on the stage.
The environment is too crowded and hot. Some audience didn't respect the actors and sleep in the theatre. The pillar seat really brought difficulty in viewing. Actors are engaging, still, the whole setting is a bit commercial.
My 5th visit, will never tire of it. Seen a few changes, now for the better. Since Love Never Dies has been taken off as the follow up, the ending has been changed to make it final, as it used to be. Loved Love Never Dies too.
Took my teen daughter as long ( years ) promised birthday trip, watching her reaction as the show started was priceless, she's loved the show since she was 5, we were both absolutely drawn into the atmosphere, the music, and the story. The cast were stunning. Totally and utterly would recommend the show to any one thinking of going to see it
